Song Lyrics

Yeah, I wanted to taste your skin,
Wanted to take a ride just to feel the wind.
Like an angel you appeared.

Nothing could touch us
As we rode around in your bus.
Yeah, we took rides just to taste the wind.

Johnny, don't be sad.
Don't get angry; don't get mad.
If I had to choose, I'd probably choose you.
But this girl can't be had.

Now there's 15 boys knocking at my door.
Yeah, I could let them in 'til I was sore.
But they'd only get thrown out of bed
Because there's crazy voices in my head, that's saying,

"Put down the telephone;
You can make it on your own."

-------break------

So now I must learn again
Just where I end and you begin;
'Cuz you put me into all your songs,
And I can't tell you what went wrong.

Yeah, but we took rides just to taste the wind,
And I swear I can still feel your skin.
But now it's time for "So long."
And I can't tell you what went wrong.

Johnny, don't be sad.
Don't get angry, don't get mad.
If I had to choose, I'd probably choose you;

Johnny, don't be sad.
Don't get angry; don't get mad.
If I had to choose, I'd probably choose you.
But this girl can't be had.
No, this girl can't be had.

Story Behind The Song

Where else do most songs of this type come from? The bitter breakup of a once beautiful thing. It was written in about 20 minutes and recorded almost as quickly. One of those things.
